What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK government initiative to help homeowners switch from fossil fuel heating to clean heat pumps. It's administered by Ofgem and available to property owners in England and Wales.

The grant covers £7,500 of the cost of an air source heat pump installation. You don't receive the money directly — instead, it's deducted from your quote upfront. You only pay the balance.

Example: If your installation costs £12,000, you pay £4,500. The remaining £7,500 is paid directly to us by the scheme.

Who qualifies?

Most Berkshire homeowners are eligible.

You can apply if:

  • Own your property (or have landlord permission)
  • Property is in England or Wales
  • Replacing gas, oil, LPG, or electric heating
  • Have a valid EPC (any rating)
  • Use an MCS-certified installer (that's us)

You may not qualify if:

  • Already have a heat pump installed
  • Property is a new build
  • Renting without landlord consent
  • In Scotland or Northern Ireland (different schemes)
